SOUTH-AFRICA: Cape of Good Hope

On a trip to South Africa and Cape Town, the picturesque Cape of Good Hope is of course one of the main spots you should have seen. The spectacularly shaped peninsula between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans rises like an arrow into the maritime border area and frames a paradisiac white sandy beach, where turquoise blue waves break. We stayed for a few days in Mothercity, as Cape Town is often called, and explored the region by rental car. As far as you can handle the traffic on the left, this is probably the cheapest and most flexible exploration opportunity. Of course, many things also go by public transport and countless tours and day trips are offered, but if you want to avoid the big tourist crowds and prefer a free time schedule, then we clearly recommend the rental car. The easiest way to book the vehicle you want at Avis, Europcar, Budget, Tempest or Thrifty is to pick up and drop off directly at the airport.

OMAN: Adventurous Wadi Shab

A wadi is a valley or river that often leads to water only after heavy rains. Surprising flash floods can be caused by distant thunderstorms that fall in the correspondingly large catchment area of the wadi. The stay in Wadis with steep banks, but also in very wide wadis can become life-threatening in such cases. We went on a exploring tour to see some of those wadis, in summer time there is definitly no danger, maybe you could fall asleep and drown while relaxing in warm chilled basins and swimming pool like valleys of the wadis. One of the those famous and fantastic wadis is Wadi Shab, which we visited on our journey.

CROATIA: Rock Formation Chill Out – Novalja

Novalja is the second largest town on the island of Pag, between Rijeka and Zadar in the Croatian Adriatic. According to the city administration, the city has about 3,500 inhabitants and belongs to the Lika-Senj County. It describes itself as the tourist center of the island and yes it is. While we visited it wasn´t the visiting time, but during the summer the whole area is a party hot spot. We enjoyed some quite and relaxed chilled out time there.

VENEZUELA: Coro and the Médanos Nationalpark

Coro, officially Santa Ana de Coro, is the capital of the Venezuelan state of Falcón with about 258,000 inhabitants and is located on the Caribbean Sea at the north coast of Venezuela. In the north you can reach the Paraguaná peninsula via the isthmus of Médanos. In the northwest, the Gulf of Coro extends as a marginal sea of ​​the Gulf of Venezuela. Off the coast are the Netherlands Antilles: In the north is Aruba and in the northeast there is Curaçao. In the south begins after a few kilometers, the hills of the Sierra de Coro. The closest major cities are in the south Barquisimeto and in the southeast Valencia.

SOUTH AFRICA: The Wisdom-Poop-Walk through Balule

We went to a wonderful morning hike through the bush, had a safari in the afternoon and went even for a night drive. The two days at Andy´s Camp in the Balule Nature Reserve during our Safari through the northeast of South Africa have been just a fascinating experience. This article here is about the quite interesting bush walk we did with Ranger Joe Maiapane and Jika Tibana where they educated us about the surrounding nature, the wildlife and gave us special knowledge about the animal dung.

SOUTH AFRICA: Boulders Penguin Colony – Simon´s Town

On the southern Cape Peninsula between Cape Town and the Cape of Good hope there is a little penguin sanctuary which is quite worth a stop. Especially if you like those little fellows. You can observe them while they are chilling around at the beach and by entering the breeding station you support with your entrance fee the protection of the animals and the team which is working to provide that.

SOUTH AFRICA: Andy’s Camp at the Waterhole – Phalaborwa

Wildlife viewing of the savannah: We made another stop on our safari tour through the northeast of South Africa at Andy’s camp in the Ukhozi Nature Reserve. A cozy lodge with a collection of small tent sheds for a handful of visitors. The great thing about this camp is its location on a hill with a perfect view of a waterhole below. In the morning, at lunchtime and especially in the evening, the entire animal landscape of the area appears alternately there. Everyone has a thirst, especially when it’s so hot.

SOUTH AFRICA: Safari in Limpopo – Balule Nature Reserve

After Cape Town graffiti now safari in the savannah. With an adventurously remodeled observation truck from Drifters, we have spent the last few weeks scouring the South African bush, watching the wildlife in the reserves and, of course, visiting the Kruger Park. There were breathtaking moments and stunning camera shots.
