THAILAND: Meeting of Styles Hua Hin – Abandoned Factory Graffiti – Lost Place Urban Art in the Jungle

Hua Hin is located in the center of the country on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand and is the oldest beach resort of the Thai royal family, and therefore also for countless tourists. Also the fantastic global graffiti project MEETING OF STYLES organized its first event in Thailand around an abandonded factory near the city in the jungle. More than 50 local and international artists created awesome artworks on April 5th and 6th in 2014, several can still be seen.

THAILAND: Streetart Bangkok – Khlong Saen Saep – Graffiti at the longes Canal in the Country

Khlong Saen Saep is a canal in central Thailand that provides a water connection from the Mae Nam Chao Phraya River to Prachin Buri and Chachoengsao, making it the longest canal in Thailand. It runs partly through the urban area of Bangkok and countless pieces of graffiti are regularly created along the walls. There are also beautiful large murals and wall paintings on the buildings along the water.

Wang Burapha Phirom is a so-called “Khwaeng” of the Phra Nakhon district in Bangkok, which means something like neighborhood or sub-district. It is home to the famous Ong Ang Walking Street, the popular night market and the large Khlong Ong Ang shopping center adjacent to Bangkok’s Chinatown. The market and area are located close to a canal and are known for their lively atmosphere, busy stalls and delicious food. But also for the many colorful urban creations.

Talat Noi means “small market” and is a historic neighbourhood in Bangkok adjacent to Chinatown. The area was the first port in Bangkok where immigrants disembarked and you can find several historic buildings around. Today Talat Noi is a cultural attraction combined with modern urban art, as the alleys and houses are full of colorful creations. Several galleries opened and regularly interesting events take place that bring even more works to the walls, such as “Color of Charoenkrung” featuring murals and installations by local artists and designers.

The district, or more precisely the “township” of Maboneng, was a run-down area of the city for many decades, but recently a lot of artists and galleries have settled down, also alternative bars and clubs opened and unconventional art projects are happening. MEXICO: Streetart Isla Holbox – Magnificent Island Graffiti and Open Air Portraits

The island Holbox is located on the north coast of the Yucatán peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. The area was once populated by the Maya, who also gave the island its name in their language. Holbox means “black hole” and it´s called this way because of the dark water caused by mangroves in the lagoon Yalahao. ALBANIA: Streetart Tirana – Mural Fest Tirana – Praxinho’s Urban Art Collection

Fabulous travel photographer and world explorer Praxinho aka Praxi Deluxe brought some awesome photo material from his journey to the Albanian capital Tirana. Since 2018 the fantastic MURAL FEST TIRANA takes place in the streets and numerous artists from all around the globe have been invited in the previous years. This great event is hosted annually by the local art agency DEKORI with its director Henril Cule and with support by 167/B STREET. In the city you can find as well many old fashioned artworks from decades ago in mosaic style. PORTUGAL: Madeira Island – Streetart Funchal – Colorful Doors, Whale Murals and Garbage Art

Today we have some street art for you from the eastern part of the Atlantic. Funchal is the capital of the Portuguese island of Madeira, which is about 710 km off the Moroccan coast at equator height. In the cozy city you can find smaller urban works of art and larger murals in many places, but a very special place is the Rua de Santa Maria with the adjacent streets. Artists have brought the once run-down and half-ruined district back to life with a creative and colorful project: the “Projecto artE pORtas abErtas” which means “Open Door Project”.
