NEPAL: Lalitpur – Streetart Sanepa – Graffiti and Urban Art Collection

Sanepa is a neighborhood in the northwestern part of Lalitpur, located along the Bagmati River at an elevation of approximately 1.310 meters. In the streets you can encounter interesting urban artworks of various forms; for instance the SATTYA MEDIA ARTS COLLECTIVE created one of its works here as part of the KOLOR KATHMANDU project, and the neighborhood was also home to the former ART LAB collective, but ROG with DEEP SOCIETY is now launching new projects in the premises; it also houses the creative clothing label and café space KASHYAPI.

NEPAL: Kathmandu – Traditional Tiles, Door Gods & Home Protectors – Culture Art Collection

In Kathmandu and Patan, you often see small stone or terracotta tiles with religious motifs placed near house entrances. These elements are part of traditional Newar architecture and are generally referred to as religious relief panels, protective tiles, or small outdoor household shrines. The handmade artworks often depict deities such as Krishna, Shiwa, Ganesha, Hanuman, Saraswati or Buddha, as well as protective symbols, mandalas, and mythical beings. Besides the numerous tiles, you can also find paste up works, wooden boards or wall paintings around the entrance doors.

Kundopole is a densely built neighborhood in the northern part of Lalitpur and is considered a local residential and commercial area outside the main tourist hubs. In the streets you can encounter interesting urban artworks of various forms; especially the SATTYA MEDIA ARTS COLLECTIVE created two of its works here as part of the KOLOR KATHMANDU project and also several walls were painted by the former ART LAB collective, which meanwhile no longer exists anymore, but the involved artists have formed new crews such as TAG THEORY or the KOR ARTS COLLECTIVE

NEPAL: Lalitpur – Chakupat – Mitra Graffiti Wall – Urban Art Gallery at Dhantil Marg

Along Bangalamukhi Road in the Chakupat district of Lalitpur, there is a magnificent graffiti wall featuring fantastic works in various styles. Especially the KAALO collective carried out two remarkable projects in 2018 and 2021 to support the organizations DIGNITY WITHOUT DANGER and DALIT LIVES MATTER. The SHADES collective also left behind a fantastic piece as a tribute to the movie Qala. In between are writing pieces, bombings, tags and streetart. Check out this great open air urban art gallery!
