Montréal is the largest city in the Canadian province of Quebec and is located on the Saint Lawrence River. Famous landmarks include the historic Old Town, the Notre-Dame Basilica, the Old Port or Mount Royal, which also gave the place its name. The city is known for its French influence, bilingual population, and diverse architecture. With around two million inhabitants, Montreal is the second-largest city in Canada after Toronto.
