The Triade Foundation initiated the „Sculpture Nursery“ project in 2003, wherein Romanian and international artists provided models of their works that were later produced in Timişoara for an outdoor exhibition. The Triade Park, located near the Interart Triade Foundation, where the Jecza Museum operates, houses more than 40 stone and metal sculptures. Some of these works were created by prominent Romanian sculptors.

Arad has around 145.000 inhabitants and is located in the south of the Kreisch region and in the north of the Banat, a major industrial center and important transport hub in the west of the country. Worth seeing are the Palace of Culture on George Enescu Square, the Turnului Water Tower, the Red Church and the Orthodox Holy Trinity Cathedral. Of course, there are also interesting works of urban art here, especially the non governmental association CITIZENIT is organizing a lot of colorful projects.

Slatina is located in southern Romania on the eastern bank of the River Olt, which flows from the Carpathians further south into the Danube. The town, which was first mentioned in a document in 1368, is part of the historic Muntenia region, has a population of around 79,000 and is an important industrial center. Naturally graffiti can also be found here, especially the local schools organize painting events and jams.

Emil Banciu’s online library Banat Media offers virtual portraits of artists, exhibitions and art events in Romania. One book in particular caught our interest, the retrospective work on the great urban art festival FISART, which took place in Timisoara from 2011 to 2020 and attracted countless artists from all over the world. We talked in an interview with the publisher Emil Banciu, with the author Corina Nani and also with the photographer Sergio Morariu.

Timisoara is one of the most important cities in Romania and it is not without reason that it was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2023. The city with around 250,000 inhabitants offers an impressive combination of Byzantine, Baroque and Modernist architecture. Of course there is also a lot of great urban art, above all the UNDERTOWN STREET ART GALLERY under a large bridge to Iulius Town is a highlight with works by national and international artists.

During the OUTLINE STREETART FESTIVAL in 2020 great artworks were created by members of the fabulous SWEET DAMAGE CREW in the Bucharest suburb Vitan at Șoseaua Bârzești. The talented crew consists of the artists BIEX, BOEME, CAGE, LOST.OPTICS, PANDELE, RECIS and SHATR. Except for BOEME and SHATR, all team members were involved and delivered beautiful creative works from the flora and fauna theme. In addition, the befriended artist GABRIELA FLOREA was also invited to the session and painted a beautiful ladybug.

Reportage with an article and heaps of photos about a road trip through the Banat. It was a father-and-son-journey, with a search for family roots and ancestor data. So it was ideally to set off on Father’s Day at the highway to the east. The plan was to pay the Banat a visit after all that years. And it was just great! Check out the story and photo gallery.

Photo Gallery about all kind of vehicles we found during our road trip through the Banat. Included are horse trailors like you see on the main pic, but as well cars, bicycles, trains, trams, buses, trucks, tractors and even quads. There are beetles, police cars, driveable lawn mowers and sportscars. The age range is diverse as well, in the collection you can find quite new luxury cars, as well oldtimers or just left over car trash. And of course, al lot of people still trust in the good old bike or the 1 PS strong horse.
