The large parking garage at Archibishop Makarios III Street number 15 near the Ayia Napa city center has served as a spray-painting site for many years and is home to some great graffiti. Especially during the many events of the Ayia Napa Street Art Festival, interesting works of art have been created here time and again. On September 9th in 2023, part of the building was inaugurated by the municipality as the “House of Youth and Cultural Ensembles” and has since officially been a meeting place for creative projects with children and young people.

CYPRUS: Streetart Limassol – Abandoned SODAP Wine Factory – Urbex & Lost Place Graffiti

In the west of Limassol near the old harbor is the abandoned wine factory “Synergatikos Organismos Diathesis Ambelourgikon Proionton” or SODAP for short. The industrial complex was built in 1947 and produced wine and the traditional Cypriot pomace brandy Zivania for many years. Meanwhile the 38,827 square meter site is an ideal location for urban art and the huge halls provide a lot of space from the outside, but also offer a special mystical and unique atmosphere inside.

CYPRUS: Streetart Larnaka – Around Grigori Afxentiou – Parking Yard Graffiti and Urban Creations

Grigori Afxentiou is a bigger street going from west to east leading from Larnaka center to the beach. It is an urban area with many multi-storey residential buildings and accordingly there are also several parking areas, and there you can find lots of graffiti and artworks on the walls. On the main street are some stores that have been decorated by artists and there are also beautiful works of art at a nearby school. The artist PAPARAZZI in particular, whose studio is just around the corner, has left behind a number of creations and continues to create new ones.

CYPRUS: Streetart Limassol – Ypsonas Industrial Zone – Alexandrias Parking – ZOGRAFF JAM SPACE

Located in the Ypsonas Industrial Zone north of Limassol you can find a huge parking lot called Alexandrias. Bikers meet regularly on the large concrete area to do tricks or gather for rides. In 2022, also the fourth edition of the grandiose ZOGRAFF GRAFFITI JAM took place here and the more than 150 meter long surrounding walls were painted with a lot of hip hop, art and party. The writers received support from BIKE MAFIA CYPRUS and KOUMBARIS PAINTWORKS.

Today let’s dive into the musical world and we present you a terrific creator of sounds. This artist is a true professional in his acoustic style and therefore he is named THE PROFESSOR. We met the versatile DJ at an event in Cyprus and were able to witness an awesome and motivating party he created with his music show. Recently his first album “Disartster” was released, he is organizer of the “Electric Circus” and resident at “Lost + Found”, “Palaia Pineza” and “Notes and Spirit”. The tattoo artist MIKEY BOY from Cyprus runs together with his colleague MAXI ESPINO the tattoo studio RISE ‘N’ SHINE in the coastal city of Limassol. The two look back on many years of experience in the field of body decoration and have already tattooed all over the world. OLAK is a graffiti sprayer from Limassol and has been among the first generation of the graffiti community that helped to establish graffiti and urban arts in the streets of Cyprus. He is still active painting in all kind of situations. As one of the old schoolers of the island over the years he has been involved also in many graffiti projects and events such as the jam JUST HIP HOP and the STREET LIFE FESTIVAL. Meanwhile he works as a graphic and multimedia designer based in Spain with regular visits in Cyprus for work and other projects.

CYPRUS: Streetart Nicosia – Taht-el-Kale District – Graffiti and Urban Art Collection

The neighborhood Taht-el-Kalein in Nicosia is located in the inner core of the city around the historic Famagusta Gate. There are churches and mosques here, but otherwise it is a rather run-down area in terms of buildings and workshops, many of which have been abandoned and lost. Just as the buildings are only half used, so is the graffiti, which are rather bombed and short pieces, but super old ones are still existing. Nevertheless, the place is very interesting and shows a historicity of local crafts development and urban art. This strange border situation changed a lot and keeps it strange. Local artists like especially ASTRAKISTRIKES with her project “Mapping the Old City” try to bring more color and innovative ideas to those quarters.
