BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA: Street Arts Festival Mostar – SAFMO – Graffiti and Urban Art since 2012

Mostar is the largest city in Herzegovina, the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the sixth largest city in the country with 113,000 inhabitants. Since 2012 great artworks get created throughout the city during the fantastic STREET ARTS FESTIVAL MOSTAR, or SAFMO for short, which is organized annually by the REZON ASSOCIATION. Countless fantastic works have been created since then, from large colorful murals to small filigree works.

MOROCCO: Streetart Tamnougalt – Desert Art – DAVID CHOE’s Igloo Hong Project – Urban Creations in the Middle of Nowhere

The small enclave of Tamnougalt is a Berber village with around 500 inhabitants near the small town of Agdz in the Draa Valley in southern Morocco. In the middle of nowhere stands an old clay building complex, where a large number of urban artworks have been created by a group of artists around DAVID CHOE for the IGLOO HONG project. The mix of abstract paintings, portraits and graffiti together with the isolation in the Moroccan hinterland is simply magnificent. This place is actually a small art gallery that no one knows about.

SPAIN: Streetart Valencia – Las Fallas, Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, Tapas & Graffiti

Valencia is simply a super cool city on the east coast of Spain. Relaxed atmosphere, interesting culture and modern dynamics. You’ll find historic monuments and also futuristic places like the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, there are funky underground clubs, you can eat super delicious food and of course there is urban art in every alley. You also shouldn’t miss the popular and crazy annual event “Las Fallas”, when they create wonderful huge sculptures during the whole year, just to burn them down on a special day with a big party.

SPAIN: Streetart Mojácar – Travelgraff Urban Art Jam – Graffiti at the Gas Station

Those great artworks were created close to the Spanish town of Mojácar during the fantastic jam TRAVELGRAFF in 2018. It is a national contest with numerous Spanish artists from the Almeria region and also from other parts of the country. The motto of the jam was “Nuestro medioambiente y el suyo”, which means in English “Our environment and yours”. You can find the graffiti spot at the propane and butan gas station on the A-370 highway northwest of the town in the direction to Garrucha.

FINLAND: Streetart Tampere – Hiedanranta Art Space – Spraycankontrol & Meeting Of Styles at the old Katutaso Kauppa factory

Hiedanranta is an old factory area west of Tampere and a real oasis of urban art. Countless great works can be found on the walls and huge murals on the old warehouse buildings. In 2018 the event SPRAYCANKONTROL took place in combination with the legendary jam series MEETING OF STYLES and some works from this event are still there, but of course new graffiti are also being created regularly. ESTONIA: Urban Art Tallinn – Telliskivi Loomelinnak – Creative City – Culture Campus and Streetart Museum

Telliskivi Loomelinnak, or in English “Creative City”, is located in Tallinn west of the Old Town in an old industrial complex and is an art centre with galleries, small shops, various creative businesses, start-ups and catering establishments. The campus hosts more than 800 different cultural events throughout the year. Apart from that, the place is one big urban art museum and the walls are covered with great artworks, from small graffiti to huge murals. As a whole the entire Kalamaja neighbourhood is an artists’ quarter and is painted from top to bottom.

PORTUGAL: Streetart Lagos – Graffiti and Urban Art on the western Algarve coast

With 31,000 inhabitants, Lagos is the largest city in the west of the Algarve in southern Portugal. It is known for its beautiful and colorful old town with the historic city wall, its cliffs and its famous Atlantic beaches such as Ponta da Piedade. Also worth seeing are the Forte da Ponta da Bandeira, the Lagos Castle, the idyllic marina and the Plaza Infante Dom Henrique with the church of Santa Maria de Lagos. SPAIN: Streetart Málaga – Graffiti and Urban Art Collection – Lucha por lo Imposible

Málaga is the second largest city in Andalusia and with around 570.000 inhabitants one of the biggest metropolises in Spain. Besides the interesting sights like the Arab Fort Palace Alcazaba, the Iglesia de Santiago, the Castillo de Gibralfaro or the Teatro Romano, it is also home to one of the most important universities in the country. The streets of the city are also home to some terrific urban art, such as the extensive portrait wall of the project “Lucha por lo Imposible” or graffiti around the cool skate park.
