MALAYSIA: Streetart George Town – Urban Art Collection from Penang Island

George Town is the colorful and multicultural capital of the Malaysian island of Penang and was once an important trading center. Therefore the city is characterized by buildings from the British colonial period, Chinese commercial and residential buildings and mosques. In the streets you can also find interesting streetart, sometimes with large murals or small filigree stencils. Often there are impressive works that creatively integrate the environment or objects into the setting of the painting.

Malacca is a coastal city in southwestern Malaysia with a population of approximately 579,000 inhabitants. Special attractions are the 17th century Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, the Kampung Kling Mosque or Jonker Street in Chinatown with interesting antique stores and the famous night market. Malacca is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2008 and meanwhile also with interesting urban art in our archive.
