MAGNET BY SHIBUYA 109 is a large multi-story shopping center located at the north exit of Shibuya Station in Tokyo. In addition to the famous RECOfan record base, there are countless underground shops, alternative fashion stores and lots of stuff for anime and manga fans. The entire staircase, the walls on the roof and some of the rooms were decorated with great works of art by numerous Japanese urban artists. This collection also includes streetart works, graffiti and tags in the area around the shopping center.

There are some urban art projects in Tokyo and you can also find legal commissioned works, but the administration takes strict and quick action when it comes to illegal graffiti, and the wall paintings are often removed or painted over within a short time. It looks differently when it comes about stickers, there are simply countless of them and entire sticker walls have been created in the streets. SPAIN: Graffiti Barcelona – Poblenou – Picnic DIY Skate Park – Urban Art Collection

A “DIY Skatepark”, or “Do It Yourself”, is a skate spot mostly on abandoned or disused land and local skaters and collectives actually build these spaces, take care of the park and do the administration in self-organization. One such relatively new skate park in Barcelona is the PICNIC DIY in the district Poblenou at Calle de Carmen Amaya close to the beach. The area is an awesome playground for everybody who likes to ride any kind of skate vehicles and as usual with skateparks, also this hot spot is covered with countless great graffiti and new ones are created regularly.

SPAIN: Graffiti Barcelona – Passeig de Josep Carner – Drassanes Legal Wall – Urban Art Collection

The “Drassanes Reials de Barcelona” are the former royal shipyards of the Middle Ages. Now there is a historical maritime museum for the history enthusiasts and for the urban art fans the place has something great to offer as well.
