SPAIN: Streetart Fanzara – MIAU – Museo Inacabado de Arte Urbano de Fanzara

The MUSEO INACABADO DE ARTE URBANO, or MIAU for short, is an extraordinary urban art project in the small village of Fanzara in the province of Castellón. It was launched in 2014 and the name stands for “Unfinished Museum of Urban Art” – unfinished because it is constantly evolving. Unlike traditional museums, the exhibition is open-air, with artists decorating house facades, gates, and walls throughout the village, turning Fanzara itself into a gallery with more than 160 urban artworks by 116 creators from big to small. And every year new works are getting added.

NORWAY: Streetart Bergen – Murals, Graffiti and Urban Art Collection

Bergen is with 290.000 inhabitants Norway’s second largest city and is located on the west coast of the country. The historic Hanseatic quarter of Bryggen with its colorful wooden houses, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is particularly worth seeing, as well the lively fish market, the Bergenhus Fortress or the viewing platform on Fløyen with the Fløibanen funicular. The city has also established itself as a center for modern streetart in recent years, in strong contrast to many other cities in Norway, where there is a zero-tolerance policy towards graffiti. In Bergen, however, the streets are colorful and artists from all over the world came to paint.

SOUTH KOREA: Streetart Jeonju – Omokdae – Jaman Mural Village – Urban Art Open Air Gallery

The JAMAN MURAL VILLAGE is located on a hillside opposite the famous HANOK VILLAGE in Jeonju and was originally a modest residential area for lower-income families. Starting in the 2010s, the neighborhood was transformed through urban art and revitalization projects, with murals painted by local artists, students, and volunteers. This resulted in a wide variety of styles, ranging from traditional Korean themes to modern pop culture and interactive 3D artworks. The murals are constantly changing and some are repainted or replaced, making the village a dynamic and ever-evolving artistic space.

Las Peñitas is a coastal fisher town on Nicaragua’s Pacific coast with a population of around 1050 inhabitants. Famous for its long sandy beaches and excellent surfing spots, it attracts beach lovers and nature enthusiasts. Popular activities include boat tours through the mangroves on the Río Chiquito or excursions to the nearby Cerro Negro Volcano. GERMANY: Urban Art Rüdersdorf – Old Phosphate Plant Coswig Rüdersdorf – Urbex Collection

The old animal feed factory with the disused phosphate plant of the VEB Coswig Rüdersdorf company is an abandoned place that nature is reclaiming piece by piece. Filmmakers have also discovered this fantastic scenario and the area has already been the backdrop for some great movies, including „Manifesto“, „The Monuments Men“ or „Enemy at the Gates“. A perfect place for creative projects and of course interesting graffiti gets done here. We have some photos of the old chemical plant, who knows how long it will be around.

PHILIPPINES: Streetart Boracay – Island Graffiti and Aklan Urban Art

The island of Boracay is located in the Philippines and belongs to the province of Aklan. It has around 37.000 inhabitants and is one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations. Historically, Boracay was long inhabited only by local communities and remained largely unknown until the 1970s. It gained international attention through travel guides and backpackers. Among the main attractions are the famous White Beach with its fine white sand, Puka Shell Beach known for its shells, and the viewpoint Mount Luho, which offers a wide panoramic view of the island. Of course you can also find great urban artworks along the streets.

NORTH MACEDONIA: Streetart Skopje – 11th October Wall – Residential Graffiti Spray Space

In the Centar district of Skopje along 11th October Street , between numbers 22 and 26, there is a long row of five-story apartment blocks. In front of them, there is a little space for some lawn and a few trees, quite narrow, but still the buildings are not directly on the street. The entire row of houses is covered in graffiti from start to finish, and not just scribbles, but also several really well-executed graffiti pieces.

Lerwick is the capital of the Shetland Islands, which belong to Scotland, and with around 7,500 inhabitants it is the largest settlement in the archipelago. Urban art lovers can walk the LOCUS LERWICK PUBLIC ART TRAIL, a great project initiated by LIVING LERWICK in collaboration with SHETLAND ARTS. They also provide a free map with audio guide and run projects like the Mareel Arts Centre, the Bonhoga Gallery, and the Garrison Theatre. These institutions deliver an extensive year-round programme of music, dance, theatre, film, literature, visual arts and exhibitions.

NEPAL: Lalitpur – Chakupat – Mitra Graffiti Wall – Urban Art Gallery at Dhantil Marg

Along Bangalamukhi Road in the Chakupat district of Lalitpur, there is a magnificent graffiti wall featuring fantastic works in various styles. Especially the KAALO collective carried out two remarkable projects in 2018 and 2021 to support the organizations DIGNITY WITHOUT DANGER and DALIT LIVES MATTER. The SHADES collective also left behind a fantastic piece as a tribute to the movie Qala. In between are writing pieces, bombings, tags and streetart. Check out this great open air urban art gallery!
