NORWAY: Streetart Tromsø – Arctic Jam Breakdance Festival & Arctic Writers Graffiti Projects

Tromsø is located beyond the Arctic Circle, has around 77.000 inhabitants and is known as the „Gateway to the Arctic“. Recommendable sights are the Arctic Cathedral, the Polar Museum and the views from the Fjellheisen cable car, but Tromsø is also a hub for contemporary urban culture. A particularly significant event is the ARCTIC JAM, which includes a streetart festival organized annually by the artist collective THE ARCTIC WRITERS. The happening encompasses not only streetart and graffiti, but also breakdance battles, hip-hop workshops, and dance performances.

ITALY: Streetart Turin – Borgo San Paolo – Giardino de Valle – PicTurin Artworks

In Turin’s Borgo San Paolo district, between Via Carso and Corso Trapani, lies Giardino de Valle park with various green spaces. In the northern and southern parts of the park, there are two concrete structures that were designed by various local artists as part of PIC TURIN in November 2011. There were also other works in other parts of the city. It was the second edition of the event after 2010, and a third followed in 2012. The project was organized by MURARTE with support of the collectives IL CERCHIO E LE GOCCE and MONKEYS EVOLUTION. Check out the great artworks!

NORTH MACEDONIA: Streetart Skopje – Volgogradska Spray Space – Rende Graffiti Walls

In the Karpoš district of Skopje, at Volgogradska 7, you can do two fantastic things at once. Here you’ll find the amazing burger place SENDVICARA RENDE, or simply RENDE. They serve excellent burgers and are highly recommended for a food break. The place is also covered in graffiti, both along the row of shops and around the building. Especially the artists DRASH and RASK have left their mark, as their studios are located nearby in the neighbourhood. Check out the great artworks and have a burger stop when you are around.

GERMANY: Graffiti Artist & Event Organizer – MANUEL GERULLIS aka YOURS – Founder of MEETING OF STYLES

The graffiti writer MANUEL GERULLIS aka YOURS grew up in the 80s with his crews DBL or CNB. In 1997 he launchend the WALL STREET MEETING in Wiesbaden, today known as the MEETING OF STYLES, which became a global event network with more than 400 held jams world wide, but is also passionately involved in many other projects to open creative spaces like the KONTEXT, the SCHLACHTHOF, the KULTURCAMPUS or the EUROPEAN HIP HOP MUSEUM. His mission is to bring more color, creativity, respect, and peace via urban art into the world. We spoke with YOURS in an interview about his own development and the story of MEETING OF STYLES.

SPAIN: Streetart Alicante – Graffiti and Urban Art on the Costa Blanca

Alicante is a lively port city on the Costa Blanca in southeastern Spain with a population of around 330.000. The city’s landmarks include the Castillo de Santa Bárbara, towering high above the sea and offering impressive views of the coast, the palm-lined Explanada de España promenade with its characteristic mosaic floor, and the 17th-century Concatedral de San Nicolás. SWITZERLAND: Basel – Exhibiton Fair – ART BASEL – International Venue since 1970

The ART BASEL is considered one of the most prestigious and influential art fairs in the world and plays a central role in the international art market as well as in art theory discourse. It was founded in 1970 by Basel gallery owners ERNST BEYERLE, TRUDL BRUCKNER and BALZ HILT with the aim of establishing a fair of the highest quality that would clearly distinguish itself from purely commercial events. Since then, it has been held annually in Basel and has continuously developed into a global benchmark for modern and contemporary art. Every year the venue brings together several hundred selected galleries from over 40 countries showcasing their works.

ROMANIA: Streetart Arad – Citizenit Project – Urban Art in the Northern Banat Region

Arad has around 145.000 inhabitants and is located in the south of the Kreisch region and in the north of the Banat, a major industrial center and important transport hub in the west of the country. Worth seeing are the Palace of Culture on George Enescu Square, the Turnului Water Tower, the Red Church and the Orthodox Holy Trinity Cathedral. Of course, there are also interesting works of urban art here, especially the non governmental association CITIZENIT is organizing a lot of colorful projects.

ITALY: Streetart Turin – Borgo Vittoria – Corso Venezia 1 – Street Attitudes Walls

In Borgo Vittoria in Turin, the main road Corso Venezia leads north from Piazza Generale Antonio Baldissera, and after about 50 meters, you will find a fantastic urban art spot with several works. On both sides of the street are walls approximately two meters high, which were embellished by colorful creations as part of the magnificent STREET ATTITUDES event, which took place from 7th to 9th October in 2022. It was the 7th edition and the 20th anniversary of this magnificent spectacle organized by the collective Il CERCHIO E LE GOCCE.

NORWAY: Streetart Harstad – Arctic Urban Art, Norge Graffiti and Festspillene

Harstad is a town in the province of Troms in northern Norway with a population of around 21.000. Worth seeing are the Tv-Tårnet observation tower, the Trondenes Center on the history of the Vikings, and the Trondenes Church, the world’s northernmost medieval stone church, built around 1250. The natural spectacle of the Northern Lights can be seen well from October to March, but the city offers not only colorful skies, but also colorful walls in the streets. Every year, the large music, theater, and art festival FESTSPILLENE I NORD NORGE aka ARCTIC ARTS FESTIVAL takes place and the collective ARCTIC WRITERS are also active time by time.

GERMANY: Streetart Lemwerder – Aussichtsturm Flood Barrier – Weser Side Gallery – Farbflut Festival

From 15th to 17th June in 2018, an extraordinary urban art spectacle took place right on the Weser River in the municipality of Lemwerder: the FARBFLUT FESTIVAL. More than 200 local, national, and international artists decorated the 920-meter-long and 3.5-meter-high flood protection wall on the western bank with countless magnificent works. This has created what is probably one of the largest open-air galleries in Germany, if not the largest, here in the Wesermarsch region. It’s called the WESER SIDE GALLERY.
