GHANA: Gbi Special School

This facility for mental and physical disabled children was founded next to the village Gbi Kledzo near Hohoe in the Volta Region to provide an andequate education, health and day care for children with disabilities in this region. Principal Reverend Gerhadt Charles Gbekle and about 40 other teachter, social workers, day care mothers and educationers are keeping the school running.

URUGUAY: Streetart, Surfspot and a fancy Lighthouse – La Paloma

On the first glance you could assume that the place is somewhere around the Baltic or at the Wadden Sea. The architecture doesn´t really look very South American. As well there is this huge but small white lighthouse, which reminds more on Denmark or the German Otto comedy movies. But the palms, the warm climate and the high waves will disabuse you. La Paloma is located at the southeastern coast of Uruguay and it´s covered with awesome paintings, fantastic streetart and hidden graffiti. JAPAN: Hippie Buddha Monks – Miyajima

Here is a little story from our Japan-trip about the little funny hippie buddha monk figures we found. After we spend some time in the metropolitan tumult of Osaka, we headed south towards Hiroshima. It started getting greener on the countryside and shrine visits started to become the order of the day. An extensive site was located on the island Miyajima (??) which means translated „shrine-island“. The island is packed with temple sites and there is as well the famous Itsukushima Shint?-Shrine ( ????).

Have you ever been to the Baltic States? No, not Greece, that’s the Balkans. The Baltic States are located in the northeast of Europe, between the Baltic Sea and Russia, and include the countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. We were in Riga, the capital of Latvia, last week, looking for local street art and graffiti. The city is definitely worth a visit, whether as a stopover during a Baltic trip or as a short weekend trip.

LUXEMBOURG: Skatepark Hollerich

In the industrial areal near the Service de Sports in the suburb Hollerich there is a cool indoor skatepark. The buildings around are covered with hundreds of fantastic graffitis. Here are some photos. You find the adress below in the INFOTHEK or via the links. On the website there are links and infos about other skateparks in the country, as well about events and contests. The park is daily open between 11 and 22 o´clock. On several days there are courses with different experience level for skateboards, inlines, BMX and scooters.

JAPAN: DougoyART Paintaction – Artists Baki Baki & Mon

We already stood several days in Matsuyama, we visited and explored all the fantastic sights and the interesting city. Actually we wanted to leave to ?zu in the south the next day. But our friend Mathew Iannarone from the Sen Guesthouse recommended us definitely to stay another night because he has some secret special insider event. This hostel is a place we can very recommend by the way, but there will be an article about guesthouse owner Mathew and his exciting life in Japan in another article which is in preparation. But back to our special event, which really was worth it to stay. Mathew took us to a livingroom-live-painting session with the graffiti artists BAKI BAKI and MON. The name of the event is DougoyART. It´s an relaxed artistique festivity in an homelike atmosphere which was in the befriended guesthouse of Hisatsugu Shimizu. As well there is audio included and musicians are taking part, this time the band The Sun.
