CZECHIA: Streetart Prague – Lennon Wall of Freedom – Graffiti and Urban Art Collection

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and is also known as the „City of a Hundred Towers“. It has around 1.3 million inhabitants and lies on the Vltava River. Worth seeing are the colorful baroque buildings in the Old Town, the Gothic churches and medieval buildings. One of the city’s landmarks is the Charles Bridge with a series of statues dating back to 1402. There is also plenty of streetart and graffiti throughout the city, for example one of the probably oldest „Halls of Fame“ in the world, the LENNON WALL, which has been a symbol of freedom and peace since the 1980s.

USA: Marc Kennedy – Musician and Freak Out Collagist

I stumbled over this fantastic and in multiple fields active artist because of his funny and crazy collages. Seeing them over and over, these odd and stupid characters made me just laugh and these artworks became like a little comic strip series. Marc Kennedy did these visual objects by cutting, preparing and replacing photos while he had a little break from recording a row of his songs. He published as well a book and is producing cool t-shirts, but mainly he is a musician.

ALBANIA: Durrës – Historic Epidamnos and Dyrrachium

After we had left Tirana our first stop was the big city Durrës at the Adriatic coast of Central Albania. Durrës is the most important port city in the country and therefore an economic centre. In terms of population, Durrës is the second largest city in the country after the capital Tirana, 30 km away, and the official seat of the Qark of the same name. Durrës and Tirana together form a metropolitan region. We could find a lot of nice street art here, but the historic buildings from antiquity and the Middle Ages, mixed with modern architecture, are also quite astonishing.

NETHERLANDS: Streetart Museum Amsterdam – Gabriele Romagnoli from GRTalk preserves artworks in Virtual Reality

For the past seven years, in collaboration with renown artists worldwide the Street Art Museum Amsterdam – or just SAMA – has built a collection of over 300 pieces that lightens up the walls of one of the most degraded neighborhoods of the city. Many of them are still present in the collection, but around 70% have been removed, demolished or painted over. By the end of this year renovation of the area will start and, even though it is part of the evolution of the urban landscape, the second monumental piece will turn to rubbles. To preserve the artwork long after it will be gone, SAMA together with GRTalk embarked on a project that uses photogrammetry, virtual reality animation and 360° videos to create an experience that merges realities and tell the story of the mural “Fatherhood” from the artist STINKFISH and the already gone artwork “Safety”.

CANADA: Ronley Teper´s Lipliners

We had again a very nice studio visit. A band from Toronto was announced. Before the show I did a little research and listened to some songs on the internet. Very nice, funny and interesting music. I could not assign the singers voice to the person, wasn´t sure who, and if this „Ronley“ was a man or a woman, a bandplayer or this incredible frontwoman. I just communicated with this person via Email. But she (so means a woman) runs the show (means the band, not the radio show, this should I do), but she´s the boss and the networker of the music collective. It´s a nice and great network of musicians who connect for projects, jam-sessions, concerts or bigger tours.

BRITAIN: Logan´s Close – Scotland Rock ’n’ Roll

Carl Marah and Scott Rough are listening to music since they were little children, but the Swinging Sixties just got into their heads and kept on pushing them to the stage. They wanted to produce and play what they love. In 2014 the two 60s music lovers started to do gigs with musician Mick Reilly about the sound of this era. It was the foundation of the fantastic band Logan´s Close. Drums, two guitars, lead and rhythm, and their voices was quite alright for the beginning, but surely there was something missing.
