Oaxaca de Juárez is located in southern Mexico and is the capital of the state of Oaxaca. The city has a population of about 270.000, but the entire metropolitan area is home to significantly lot more people. More than 2.000 years ago the Zapotec culture developed in the region with its most important center being Monte Albán, located near the modern city. Today the city is best known for its colonial architecture, indigenous culture, and vibrant art scene. Of course this also includes thriving urban art covering numerous building walls.
