NEPAL: Ratnanagar – Streetart Sauraha – Urban Art at the Door to the Chitwan National Park

Sauraha is a small village on the edge of Chitwan National Park in Nepal and is one of the gateways for exploring the wildlife reserve. It is part of the Ratnanagar municipality, and safaris depart from here through dense jungle and grasslands where visitors can spot rhinos, crocodiles, and with some luck even tigers. The village itself is characterized by a relaxed atmosphere, simple lodges, and a close connection to nature as well as to the culture of the Tharu people. In addition to nature, a small streetart scene has also developed. Colorful murals adorn houses, hotels, and restaurants, often featuring animal motifs from the national park or traditional patterns of the region.
