BART HAGEL aka STREETART DAMSKO is a passionate photographer from the Netherlands who has contributed a lot of great material to the Urban Art Map of Amsterdam. An extensive archive has been created over time with small to large works of art, as well as galleries with countless photos of the super-frequented hot spots. He also did a “5 Questions” interview series with several artists which we show you now here on the website.

NETHERLANDS: Streetart Amsterdam – Sint Nicolaasstraat 19 – Art Space “SECRET GARDEN”

A very cool new street art spot in the center of Amsterdam opened its doors not long ago! It’s called the Secret Garden and you can access this hidden gem via Nicholas Groente & Fruit at Sint Nicolaasstraat 19. It’s a cute little shop that sells high quality artisanal (food) products and art. As well they have comics, books, posters and prints. The lovely store is run by Brian and the little associated backyard gallery called Secret Garden has meanwhile 50 artworks and still counting! The entrance is free for everyone. Just ask for this creative place in the shop.

NETHERLANDS: Longest Painting in Amsterdam – Foodstrip – KARSKI & BEYOND // BIER EN BROOD

In the summer of 2018, KARSKI & BEYOND and BIER EN BROOD joined forces to create the longest painting in Amsterdam. Commissioned by the Caransa group, a design was made for more than 160 meters in length, giving the client a lot of freedom. The entire wall was built especially for the artists. The two artist duos worked closely together to make the different styles flow together smoothly and to tell a continuous story. In a period of about four weeks, the entire painting was made in Southeast Amsterdam along the so-called Foodstrip.
