Mural Foodstrip Amsterdam Zuidoost
In the summer of 2018, KARSKI & BEYOND and BIER EN BROOD joined forces to create the longest painting in Amsterdam. Commissioned by the Caransa group, a design was made for more than 160 meters in length, giving the client a lot of freedom. The entire wall was built especially for the artists.
The two artist duos worked closely together to make the different styles flow together smoothly and to tell a continuous story. In a period of about four weeks, the entire painting was made in Southeast Amsterdam along the so-called Foodstrip.
In the painting, several references to Southeast Amsterdam can be discovered and various characters return who could have come for a walk from the city area.
The size of the painting is 4m x 160m, making it the longest painting in Amsterdam. The painting can be found at Tafelbergweg in Amsterdam. – Bart Hagel
BIER EN BROOD is an art formation from Rotterdam consisting of Jelmer Noordeman and Koen Harmsma. Around 2008 they started working together working solely with black and white. KARSKI & BEYOND are known as an artist duo from the Netherlands. They have a background in graphic design and the academy of fine arts and were heavily involved in graffiti. KARSKI picked up the spray can when he was only 10 years old. BEYOND, being from another generation, started painting in 1997. They started combining their skills in 2012 as an experiment. – (quotes from their websites)
