GERMANY: Streetart Berlin – Moabit – 21er GALLERY – ANTI RACISM JAM 2024

In March it was time again for the annual ANTI RACISM JAM in Moabit at the spraygrounds of the 21ER GALLERY with around 40 creators. Every year the popular jam brings top-class artists to the walls with fantastic concept collaborations to make a colorful statement against racism and discrimination. The event on 22nd and 23rd March 2024 was organized by TOMSTA and KARAME21 with the support of CAPTAIN PAINT and the 21ER GALLERY.

ESTONIA: Urban Art Tallinn – Telliskivi Loomelinnak – MESA JAM – MaEiSaaAru Festival

The art festival “Ma Ei Saa Aru“, which means in English “I Don’t Understand”, is a great multi disciplinary event which is held annually since 2021 at the Telliskivi Loomelinnak, the “Creative City”. In its first edition there was also the MESA graffiti jam included in the festival and numerous urban artworks got sprayed at the graffiti backyard and around the permises. The festival focuses on one field of art each year and numerous artists contribute with colorful artworks around the area.

CROATIA: Streetart Šibenik – Graffiti and Urban Art in King Krešimir’s Retreat

Šibenik is a coastal town with around 42,000 inhabitants on the Adria in the north of the Dalmatia region. It was first mentioned in 1066 in a document of King Petar Krešimir IV, who regularly stayed there. Worth seeing are the historical buildings such as the stone Cathedral of St. Jacob from the 15th century with its 71 carved heads, the Prince’s Palace from the 14th century or the white stone Mihovil Fortress aka St. Anna Fortress with its open-air stage and a super beautiful view over the landscape. There is of course also interesting streetart in the alleyways and graffiti on the buildings.

GERMANY: Exhibition Berlin – Skateboard Museum, FKKB & Hotel Berlin – WALLRIDE & OUT OF THE BOX

Berlin is well known for its skateboard scene and is also home to the artist and skateboarder CHRISTIAN ROTHENHAGEN aka DEER BLN and the artist PISA 73 – the initiators of the ‘SISSI‘ skateboard club. In cooperation with the curator JÜRGEN BLÜMLEIN from the SKATEBOARD MUSEUM and the FKKB they curated the exhibitions OUT OF THE BOX and WALLRIDE at the Hotel Berlin from 18th April till 17th May with a huge variety of colorfully designed skateboards and a historical photo show.

ITALY: Milan & Venice – Hip Hop Project since 1997 and Graffiti Artist SAT – Arcano2 Magazine

The Arcano2 Magazine is a great publication from Milan and Venice that has been providing photos, reports and interviews from the world of hip hop and everything that goes with it. At regular intervals since 1997 they give an fantastic insight to graffiti, breakdancing and rapping especially from Northern Italy, but also from all around the globe. Initially launched as Arcano Revue and with the first volume in black and white, 12 issues have now been published, meanwhile each with 218 pages and 6 posters in glossy and color. We spoke with crew member SAT about the history of Arcano2 and his own development as a graffiti artist and MC.

CYPRUS: Streetart Limassol – Abandoned SODAP Wine Factory – Urbex & Lost Place Graffiti

In the west of Limassol near the old harbor is the abandoned wine factory “Synergatikos Organismos Diathesis Ambelourgikon Proionton” or SODAP for short. The industrial complex was built in 1947 and produced wine and the traditional Cypriot pomace brandy Zivania for many years. Meanwhile the 38,827 square meter site is an ideal location for urban art and the huge halls provide a lot of space from the outside, but also offer a special mystical and unique atmosphere inside.

SWEDEN: Streetart Kungälv – Urban Art in wooden Old Town and Artscape Visit

Kungälv is a small town in the province of Västra Götalands län and Bohuslän with around 22,000 inhabitants. In addition to the modern town center, there is a historic fortress with an idyllic old town of wooden buildings on Gamla Torget, the old market square. In 2019, the ARTSCAPE collective also came to the city and created great murals with various artists as part of the ARTSCAPE SAGA. There are as well interesting statues, ancient monuments and modern installations in the area.

GERMANY: Streetart Celle – CD Kaserne and Blaues Haus – Colorful Alternative Art Space

The CD KASERNE is one of the largest youth and event centers in northern Germany and a place of creative happeninigs, of course with graffiti on the facades. The gGmbH behind this space is a municipal and non-profit organization of the city of Celle. With 20 full-time employees and up to 50 freelancers, they are responsible for the administration and operation of the numerous venues. Check out the great artworks at this creative oasis!

ITALY: Streetart Milano – Navigli District – Urban Art in the Canal Neighbourhood

The Navigli district, with its two famous canals Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese, is located in the center of Milan and is known for its many creative art galleries, hip second-hand stores and trendy clubs. The Mercato di Viale Papiniano flea market and the monthly Mercatone dell’Antiquariato antiques mart are also particularly popular. “Navigli” is the name of all the numerous typical canals in and around Milan, so it basically is the canal district. Along those idyllic waterways and around the quaint alleys, there are of course plenty of colorful urban works of art.

SWEDEN: Wargöns Bruk – Lost Place Graffiti at old Paper Factory on Wolf Island

The former Wargöns AB paper mill is located on the Göta Älv river in the southwest of Sweden near the municipality of Vargön. After its closure in 2008, a large part of the building complex was demolished, but the entrance portal with the wolf in the firm emblem still shows witness to the former company. Therefore, the place is also called “Wolf Island”. Today, the site is a mysterious and almost magical lost place, covered from top to bottom with countless pieces of graffiti and streetart.
