SOUTH KOREA: Haeundae Sand Festival – ABRAM WATERMAN & CHRIS GUINTO – 20th Anniversary Sculptors Meeting

The HAEUNDAE SAND FESTIVAL took place in 2025 from May 16th till 19th and was the 20th edition of this great event in the eastern coast suburb of Busan. Countless artists from all over the world transformed the beach into an art gallery with huge sculptures and several meter-high frescos. The festival was accompanied by a colorful supporting program of music, art and culture, and even after the event you could admire the sand artworks until June 8th. In two interviews we talked to the sand sculptors ABRAM WATERMAN from Canada and CHRIS GUINTO, part of the artist duo BROKEN GLASS from the USA, while they were creating their works.

SOUTH KOREA: Busan – Gallery Square – Creative Space & Art Education – BYEONG YONG JEONG

The DESIGN SQUARE art academy is located in the Beon-gil neighborhood in the Seo-gu district of Busan and classes are held in the building on the fourth floor, but there is also a very interesting creative space in the basement, the GALLERY SQUARE, where students can paint freely and exhibitions are held regularly. We talked to the artist and art teacher BYEONG YONG JEONG about the concept of this great place and took a look at the numerous fantastic artworks, which were made by students, workshop participants or just passing by creatives.

SOUTH KOREA: Busan Graffiti Writer – Spray Can Store, Art Bar & Creative Gallery – ENIGMA 13

Today we introduce you to a fantastic creative space in Busan, South Korea that functions as a spray can store, but also as art bar, graffiti gallery, vintage figurine museum and music space. Welcome to ENIGMA13, which is run by the eponymous artist ENIGMA13 from BURNING PLAYGROUND. SOUTH KOREA: Streetart Busan – Sasang-gu – Monolvgar Indoor Skate Park – Graffiti Hall of Fame

Located in the Busan district Sasang-gu is Korea’s largest skateboarding space. The huge indoor skate hall MONOLVGAR offers professional training for local skaters, product sales and consultation by the skateboard brand and association MONOPATIN, who also founded the skate park and organizes regular skate contests and cool events. The outside facades of this place are also very interesting, because they are covered with numerous graffiti and characters. You can spray here legally, it is one of the few graffiti walls in the city and a Hall of Fame.
