The festival Burgfestspiele Bad Vilbel has been held annually since 1987 from the beginning of June to the beginning of September in the historic moated castle of Bad Vilbel. Every year, the organizers put together an extensive programme of theater, performances, concerts and culture, including a number of special events for children and families. The town has also worked with a number of local artists for many years and often takes the opportunity to hire muralists and graffiti artists to create promotional artwork for the event around town rather than displaying machine-made signs or advertising banners. A sculptural work of art in honor of the festival is located on the traffic circle on Kasseler Street in front of the underpass below the railroad tracks to Homburger Street. The metal plates are installed in a circle like dominoes, flattening and rising again. Some of the plates feature milled inscriptions with the name „Burgfestspiele Bad Vilbel“.
