The magnificent 40 GRAD URBAN ART FESTIVAL takes place in Düsseldorf every two years and brings artists from all over the world to the city to create fantastic works. Another active group is the collective FARBFIEBER with the artist KLAUS KLINGER, who have already realized many interesting projects in the streets, either on their own or in cooperation with international creatives. Another interesting feature is the “Pretty Wall” under a railroad bridge, which is used by the PRETTY PORTAL gallery for events and works by invited artists. PIXEL PANCHO
This stunning mural at Suitbertusstraße 151 was created by the Italian artist PIXEL PANCHO as part of the 40 GRAD URBAN ART FESTIVAL in 2013. In his works, the artist often depicts a surrealistic world of puppets, robots, toys and creatures.

“Konsumonsum” by IVO NIKIĆ & KLAUS KLINGER
Warsaw and Düsseldorf have been twinned for 20 years, certainly a good reason for signs in public spaces. In 2009, the collective FARBFIEBER began a cultural exchange with artists from Poland and worked in Warsaw with the Fundacją Open Art Project, the Warsaw Cultural Office and the artist group TWOZYWO. Now, together with the artist IVO NIKIĆ from Warsaw from the SZU SZU collective and the Düsseldorf artist KLAUS KLINGER have created the partner picture on a 21-metre-high wall at Bachstr. 126. “Konsumonsum” is an ironic allusion to our consumer behavior and the current crisis, which is affecting people with little money in particular. Is the glass still half full or already half empty, threatened by a big wave? Is it about buying, buying, buying or securing our livelihood? The proximity of the new shopping center next to the mural with its promises has certainly influenced the brainstorming, but the motif is only an impulse and leaves room for far-reaching interpretations of one’s own. – Farbfieber

“Bad Bank” by KLAUS KLINGER – FARBFIEBER
The “Bad Bank” was painted by local artist KLAUS KLINGER from the collective on Ackerstraße near the main railway station in September 2019. The artwork was curated by FARBFIEBER and created as part of the 40 GRAD URBAN ART FESTIVAL. The wall was kindly provided and financed by Eisenbahner-Bauverein eG.

“Wirtschaftswunder” by FARBFIEBER & MAJO BROTHERS
In 2007, the collective FARBFIEBER with one of his member artist KLAUS KLINGER and the artist duo MAJO BROTHERS created the magnificent mural “Wirtschaftswunder”, or in English “Economic Miracle” in Merowinger Straße 4. In the run-up to the project, more than 40 designs were collected from local residents and artists, which were incorporated into the image concept. In contrast to the extraordinary profits of the economy, the increasing poverty in Düsseldorf and even more seriously in many other countries is shown by an endlessly growing pyramid with numerous people who show a little story.

To mark the 800th birthday of its patron saint, the parish of St. Elisabeth and Vinzenz commissioned the FARBFIEBER group of artists to design the façade of the rectory buildings at Gerresheimer Strasse 69 and Vinzenzplatz 1 in the Flingern district with oversized faces in 2007. The mural is entitled “Eine Wand bekommt Gesichter”, or in English “A wall gets faces”, and was designed by artist KLAUS KLINGER from the collective with the support of Marc Hennig, Paola Ramirez, Benni Noak, Marq Eichberger and Elisa Tontsch.

“Was tun?” by KLAUS KLINGER
The mural “Was tun?” or “What to do?” by artist KLAUS KLINGER adorns Ackerstraße by the train tracks near the main station. The thoughtful monkey welcomes all travelers arriving by train from the north. The artwork was created in September 2008 and the wall was kindly provided and financed by the Eisenbahner-Bauverein eG.

ISAAC LINARES GUERRA, SABAHATTIN SEN & KLAUS KLINGER
This great mural called „Zeitreisende“, or in English “Time Travellers”, was created on 23rd September in 1995 on the walls of the famous art space Bilker Bunker at the corner of Aachener Straße and Karolingerstraße in the district Bilk. The huge artwork on around 700 m² was created as a collaboration by the artists ISAAC LINARES GUERRA from Cuba, SABAHATTIN SEN from Turkey and KLAUS KLINGER from Düsseldorf, with the help of Paola Ramirez, Gera Hoogland, Marq Eichberger and many more. It was made as part of the fantastic 40 GRAD URBAN ART FESTIVAL which takes place every two years in town. The team around this happening is a free association of interested people who promote and implement urban art in Düsseldorf with numerous activities.

Pretty Portal Gallery – Railroad Underpass in Bilk
Since August 2022, Düsseldorf has a new attraction, another cultural highlight. The “Pretty Wall Bilk”which was organized by the PRETTY PORTAL gallery from Brunnenstraße 12. The new open air gallery was inaugurated with the “Pretty Wall Show” from 14th October til 25th November and presents works of art by 10 urban artists. The underpass at the Bilk S-Bahn station has been transformed from an unreal place that everyone tries to pass through as quickly as possible into an art gallery in public space. The new outside exhibition shows a broad spectrum of urban contemporary positions, figurative alongside abstract works, from graffiti and street art to urban art and graffuturism. Today, passers-by take the opportunity to stop and enjoy art on their way to work or shopping. Included artists are Alexis Stephens aka BUST, ARDIF, DEMON, L.E.T., MARC C. Supermarket Collaboration Wall – A Meeting of Styles 2022
This long commissioned work was created at the Kaufland supermarket in the Bilk district in 2022. It was titled “A Meeting of Styles 2022”, which is a reference to the legendary graffiti jam “Meeting of Styles“. Most of the artists involved are also regular guests at the annual super event in Wiesbaden. The colorful food wall was created by ALIEN from Venezuela, YOURS, who is the founder of the Meeting of Styles Festival, SMOK from Germany, ESOBE from Poland, ANGER from Mexico, KOBER from Mexico, ZION from Brazil, SETH from Brazil and ERAY from South Africa.
