Gotthold Ephraim Lessing

GOTTHOLD EPHRAIM LESSING was an important poet of the Enlightenment. His dramas and theoretical writings had an extensive influence on literature and the development of the theater. He lived from January 22dn 1729 to February 15th 1781, and this sculpture was created in his honor by the sculptor GUSTAV KAUPERT and inaugurated in 1882.
