Big Tones from the Gramophone

Along the Bergau Street there are some beautiful and well-executed wall paintings on several house surfaces. Not as huge as a mural, but still quite big and each artwork changes the surrounding super nicely. The works are reminiscent of paintings in museums such as from Dali and Magritte or oil paintings from the Romantic period, but here they are painted on house facades. It’s like a small open air gallery and the different artworks are all on the same street close to each other. You can find more works at the spots Bergau 13, Bergau 21, Bergau 29, Bergau 36, Bergau 37 and Bergau 40.  The street “Bergau Straße” was named after Fritz Bergau, a German resistance fighter against National Socialism during the Second World War. He was born on July 29, 1894 in Berlin and died on 10th December, 1941 in Gollnow imprisonment. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to find out who created these murals.
