SWEDEN: Tattoo and Graffiti Artist TONY B – Unikum Studio – Characters, Anime and New School

The Swedish artist TONY B started with drawing on paper, followed by painting on human skin as a tattoo artist and finally also creating on walls as a graffiti sprayer. In Gothenburg he runs the magnificent tattoo studio UNIKUM with a team of six other great tattooers. His love is with the body decorations, but he kept on doing all of the other connected art genres too, so it is drawing, illustrations, tattoos and wall paintings. Check out the interview!

SWEDEN: Urban Art Trollhättan – 100th City Anniversary and Streetart Festival

Trollhättan is a town with 59.000 inhabitants and is located in the western Swedish province of Västra Götalands. Worth seeing are the neo-Gothic church, the historic canal or the stone box of Sjökullen. Sweden’s third largest gold treasure was found here during archaeological excavations, but the city’s real gems are on the house walls in the form of urban art. Several murals were created especially during the TROLLHÄTTAN STREETART FESTIVAL, which was held on the occasion of the city’s 100th anniversary in 2016.

The city of Trollhättan has a number of great murals and street art, but urban art also includes creative objects and sculptures, of which there are plenty of very interesting ones throughout the city. The first public artwork by AXEL EMIL EBBE was inaugurated on 23rd June 1936, many more should follow. Especially the installations from CARL-HARRY STÅLHANE became popular landmarks.

The artist FILIP REM paints an abstract world that develops piece by piece during his painting process. The atmosphere has to be right and it is all about a certain expression. Sometimes he paints over a work numerous times in different ways, adds appliqués or even parts he found in an old paint can. In the end, it just has to fit, and if it does, that’s what his feeling tells him. We spoke with the interesting artist in an interview.

ArtMadeThis is an urban art project that showcases female artists in Sweden’s cities. Especially in Gothenburg’s large car park at Drottninggatan 65 you will find countless works of art over 5 parking levels curated for the project. From paintings to textile art to installations, 47 female artists have left fantastic works since 2017 and more are going to come. Check out the great creations!

SWEDEN: Streetart Södertälje – Hall of Fame at the harbour of Västergård

Södertälje is a Swedish city with approximately 70,000 inhabitants in the historic province of Södermanland southwest of Stockholm. A fantastic Hall of Fame is located at Södertälje Hamn in the harbour neighborhood of Västergård with countless great works of art. Especially impressive are the mystical murals of animals and apocalyptic scenarios by artist and tattooist TOMAS SUNDERSTRAND.

SWEDEN: Streetart Stockholm – Kulturkvarter Snösätra – Graffiti Wall Of Fame – […meanwhile demolished…]

The Kulturkvarter Snösätra with its Graffiti Wall of Fame was one of the greates open art galleries in Europe, unfortunately it has been torn down in September 2020, but here in our archive are a lot of photos of the great works on this former awesome colorful lost place. The streetart hot spot was located in the remote south of Stockholm in a disused industrial park near Rågsved. This building complex lay fallow for years and gradually fell apart. It was a small deserted ghost town that was avoided. But that should change completely. In 2014, a group was able to convince the landowners that certain walls can be painted. This started a transformation of this area into one of the largest graffiti exhibitions in Europe.
