Cheb, formerly also known as Eger, is a city in the Karlovy Vary region in the far west of the country near the German border. It lies on the Oh?e River and, with a population of around 32,000, is an important location for education and industry. Cheb Castle, the only one in the country with the imperial falcon, is worth a visit, also recommended are the colorful merchant houses on King George of Pod?brady Square, the 13th-century St. Nicholas Church, and the Franciscan monastery. The streets of Cheb are of course also home to many urban works of art.
