SERBIA: Streetart Belgrade – Savski Venac – Faculty of Music – Graffiti Spray Space

The “Fakultet Muzičke Umetnosti” or in English “Faculty of Music” in Belgrade is the main state and the most prominent higher education music institution in Serbia, continuously existing since its foundation in 1937. The faculty is built with one side of the wall facing Teatar Bojan Stupica and the south side facing Manjež Park. And those facades and walls to the park are covered lengthwise with graffiti and great street art. Check out the artworks collection!

CANADA: Streetart Montréal – Sault au Récollet – Pont Papineau Leblanc Graffiti Bridge

On the east side of the Papineau Leblanc Bridge in Montréal’s Sault-au-Récollet neighborhood is a legal graffiti wall, which is filled with great works. Opened in 1969, the bridge was one of the first cable-stayed bridges in North America and is part of the Quebec Autoroute 19, which connects Laval and Montréal across the Rivière des Prairies river. The entire Sault-au-Récollet district was declared a heritage site by the City of Montréal in 1992 and is well worth a visit. USA: Streetart Raleigh – North Carolina Capital – Raleigh Murals Project & Downtown Raleigh

Raleigh was founded in 1792 and, with a population of 467,000, is the capital of the state of North Carolina. The booming metropolis with its big city atmosphere and southern charm offers a variety of cabarets and the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts is particularly worth a visit. The 10th Special Olympics World Summer Games were also held here in 1999. Of course, the city also has plenty of urban art to offer. Especially THE RALEIGH MURALS PROJECT has done a lot during the years and the DOWNTOWN RALEIGH ALLIANCE provides a great art map.

SWEDEN: World Explorer and Photographer MAZZANTI – Global Urban Art Gallery

EMELY QUICKER aka MAZZANTI is a world traveller and a streetart hunter from the Swedish capital Stockholm. She loves to travel around the globe and especially to the interesting places where not everyone goes. At the same time she has a special fable for urban art. GERMANY: Streetart Berlin – Urban Nation Museum – Bülow Street Festival – Love Letters to the City

From September 13th to September 15th in 2024, the great BÜLOW STREET FESTIVAL took place along Bülowstrasse and around the URBAN NATION headquarters and museum. The entire façade was redesigned with fresh colors by the New York artist LADY PINK, and guests could also admire a colorful and extensive exhibition with “floating murals” on temporarily installed walls. An extensive and diverse program was offered over three days with creative participation activities, music on stage and culinary delicacies at food stalls. SERBIA: Belgrade Fantasy Land – Tandara Mandara Festival – Comics, Animes, Mangas, Gaming & Cosplay

From August 31st to September 1st in 2024, the fantastic TANDARA MANDARA FESTIVAL took place around the Belgrade Art Pavilion “Cvijeta Zuzorić” in Kalemegdan Park with its third edition and comic lovers, anime fans, cosplayers and gamers encountered a colorful oasis of fantasy and fiction. In addition to booths from publishing houses, illustrators and comic producers, there were also cosplay competitions, board games, collectible figures, toy cars and even a Lego exhibition. We also spoke with VANJA PETROVIĆ from DARKWOOD COMICS and with the Cosplayer ELION during the event in two interviews.

ESTONIA: Tallinn Graffiti Jam – Telliskivi Loomelinnak – Balta Legal Wall – BALTIC SESSION

From 2007 till 2016 the dance and culture association JJ STREET organized the great urban art jam BALTIC SESSION where besides the dance competition also numerous graffiti artists decorated a large backyard and the adjacent warehouses on the premises of the Telliskivi Loomelinnak. This open wall was called „Balta Legal“, but unfortunately in April 2020 the spray spot got demolished. Here in our archive you can still admire some of the colorful pieces and characters.

GERMANY: Exhibition Saarbrücken – Historisches Museum Saar – ILLEGAL – Streetart & Graffiti from 1960 till 1995

A visit to the Historisches Museum Saar on Saarbrücken’s Schlossplatz is the perfect complement to the “Urban Art Biennale” on the Hüttenfabrik museum grounds and in the city center of Völklingen. The special exhibition “Illegal” can be seen there from 18th May 2024 until 23rd February 2025, in which a selection of pieces by 123 national and international artists presents key works and never-before-shown rarities, all of which were created illegally directly for an audience on the street, all of which are characteristic of the prehistory and later development of streetart and graffiti in the USA and Europe.

SPAIN: Graffiti Barcelona – Periferia Beat Festival & Mural Jam – 50 Years of Hip Hop

From October 5th to 20th 2023 the 7th edition of the great PERIFERIA BEAT FESTIVAL took place in Barcelona. Every year, this extensive urban art event brings numerous artists from all areas of the scene to the stage. From breakdance to hip hop music, djing, rap battles and, of course, graffiti. This year’s event was also themed “50 Years of Hip Hop” and included movies, exhibitions and workshops. On October 12th, as well the MURAL JAM BARCELONA took place as part of the festival, where fantastic works were created at the Tres Xemeneies Hall.

The graffiti store BEOWALLZ is definitely the most important place to go for equipment and cans in Belgrade, but also to meet like-minded people and get the latest information. The owner DEJAN has been running the place with all his heart and soul for years and is a veteran of the scene, supplying everyone with paint!
