The house at Bredowstrasse 31-32 has been a home for children and young people for over 50 years. The Youth Center was inaugurated on January 21st 1961, after seven years of planning and construction. It was given the name „Wolfgang Scheunemann Heim“ upon its opening.
From the outset, the building was conceived as a meeting place and contact point for young people. The hall was intended and designed as the focal point of the district’s youth cultural activities. Therefore, the focus in the early years was on events and concerts. Major events such as „100 Years of Moabit“ and concerts, including those featuring internationally renowned musicians such as Albert Mangeldorff, made the center well-known.
The center’s concept has been continually adapted over the years to suit the needs of the neighborhood. Today, with a slightly changed name, „Wolfgang Scheunemann Haus“ and its meeting place „Bredo Treff“ it’s clear that the building’s design as a center for children and young people has proven successful. The newly designed multifunctional hall remains the focal point of the building. In addition to the stage, the hall is now equipped with everything needed for sporting activities. – Bredo Treff

In memory of Wolfgang Scheunemann. Born on April 4, 1933, he was shot by „People’s Police“ on November 9th 1948, after the Berlin Freedom Rally on the Platz der Republik, the Republic’s Square.
