Camino de Santiago  –  Way of St. James

The painted electrical box is an indication of the distance of 2971 km to Santiago de Compostela and thus an allusion to the famous Camino de Santiago or Way of St. James. The classic route is the Camino Francés from the Spanish-French border in the Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela, but with the revival of the pilgrimage tradition numerous pilgrimage routes of the Middle Ages were rediscovered and so the pilgrimage route begins actually on your own doorstep or wherever you want to start the long, adventurous hike. Nowadays, the path is not primarily seen as a religious pilgrimage, but as a journey to find your inner self and to deal with your psyche and soul. Arriving at your destination and achieving the tasks you have set yourself is an unforgettable experience.
