The EAST SIDE GALLERY in Berlin is a 1.3-kilometer-long section of the former Berlin Wall and is considered one of the world’s most famous and longest open-air galleries. After the fall of the Wall in 1989, around 118 artists from numerous countries decorated the Wall with over 100 paintings. The works explore themes of freedom, peace, and social change following German reunification. Today, the East Side Gallery is both an important monument to contemporary history and a popular tourist attraction in the capital.

This popular artwork by DMITRI VRUBEL known as „My God, Help Me to Survive This Deadly Love“ depicts the famous “fraternal kiss” between Leonid Brezhnev and Erich Honecker and is one of the most iconic artworks on the longest remaining section of the Berlin Wall. The painting symbolizes the political relationship between the Soviet Union and the German Democratic Republic (GDR).
