Arthur Schopenhauer
ARTHUR SCHOPENHAUER was a German philosopher and university lecturer. Schopenhauer developed a doctrine that encompassed epistemology, metaphysics, aesthetics and ethics in equal measure and was based on the teachings of Immanuel Kant. Schopenhauer was born on 22 February 1788 and died on 21 September 1860. This monument was erected in his honor by the sculptor FRIEDRICH SCHIERHOLZ and dedicated in 1895. The sculptor had already died a year earlier and was unable to witness the inauguration.
