Super Concrete Skate – OFLAND Mario World on the Hafeninsel
In 2023, a sporty and cool place was created on the harbor island in Offenbach, a so-called DIY skate park. The abbreviation “DIY” stands for “Do It Yourself”. And that’s exactly what it’s all about, because the park was built by the skaters themselves and is also maintained and serviced by them. Of course, there are also experienced skaters behind it and the Frankfurt skateboard association CONCRETE SKATE brought the project to life. However, the work, planning and implementation was carried out together with the skaters who skate there.
It is really a great project for the skate enthusiasts and the area is always open on Wednesdays from 5 to 9 pm and Fridays from 5 to 8 pm. There is also a special day for roller skaters on Mondays from 6:30 pm. The organizers ask you please not to use the park outside opening hours. It would also be very cool if you, as a skate fan, could become a member of CONCRETE SKATE and support this project and several others around the city.
Many great works of colorful art have also been created on the site. On the one hand, the floor ground is painted and the area has been designed like a Super Mario landscape, with magic mushrooms, fire flowers, booster stars and ghosts or turtles that you have to jump over. Local graffiti artists have been involved in the project and made the area a colorful playground. There are also a few small wall pieces on the fences, on which great graffiti and streetart works have been sprayed. But even without them, the ground floor is just a big artwork. Would be awesome to have drone photos from the sky!
