Urban Art Biennale 2024 – „Flat Glo“
The Globus Market complex is very reminiscent of a cancer tumor docked around an upper street, wrapped around more, penetrating it on all sides. From an exit on this tangent you can not only get to the city center and to one of the access gates of the main tax payer “Saarstahl”, but also directly in the parking garage levels of the Globus market. If you want to go from Völklingen train station In the city center, you have to cross under the that ugly „thing”. The market is not just a visual foreign body, but also an urban development fiasco of a special class. Seen from different angles and perspectives the artwork titled „Flat Glo“ by the amerikan artist BRAD DOWNEY covers that market building and makes it disapear. – Irxnschmoiz
