The area at the Städelshof has some history of creative use and many awesome exhibitions, film programs, performances, lecture series, music events or parties happened at this place of around 1300 m². In 2007 the artists MIREK MACKE and ANJA CZIOSKA founded the society KUNSTVEREIN FAMILIE MONTEZ, which did a lot of artful, alternative and also wonderfully strange actions there. But strange in a cool way. The place was also known as LOLA MONTEZ by that time. Meanwhile they moved to another place below the Honsel Bridge in 2014 and fortunately the interesting art happenings keep on going. Later on after some time of vacancy at the Städelshof spot, MAIN YARD started to revitalize that area with music and art events.
At the end of 2022, the building complex was demolished and new premises are now being built here, where creative things are supposed to happen again. During the construction phase and after the war in Ukraine started, the local artist JUSTUS BECKER aka COR conjured up a peace dove on a still existing building as a sign of solidarity for Ukraine. This mural was made in August 2022 and you can find more photos of that on the page Allerheiligen 20. In spring of 2023, COR also painted the wooden fences around the construction site with magnificent works of art. Further spray actions by the local artists OBSKUR87, FUEGO FATAL, SPOT, MOIN, SHOW ONE and TOE ONE followed.
