Originally from Hannover and now as an additional partner event in Braunschweig, the HOLA UTOPIA! festival took place in its second edition from July 28th to August 3rd in 2025, after its successful launch in 2024. The happening featured graffiti, breakdancing, rap, and everything that goes with hip hop. The female graffiti documentation GIRL POWER was shown at an open-air cinema, and the SOUNDSYSTEM MAGNIKIOSK provided great music. The main venue was Magnikirchplatz, where several artists painted colorful panels. The Street Jam also took place there, featuring breaking acts by SPEEDROCK and CIRCLE ATTACK and live rap by TICE, LZY, and KOLI. The event was organized by the team of HOLA UTOPIA! and the HIP HOP KULTUR e.V. with the support of the MAGNI KIOSK and CHRIS RANK from the CAFE RIPTIDE.

During the festival, not only were paintings done on the panels, but murals were also created throughout the city. The first artwork is located at the former Galeria Kaufhof, which has long since closed. Several walls between the ground floor shop windows were redesigned. This began in the south of the complex, continued along the east side, and ended up on the north side. The two walls of the underground parking garage entrance were also redesigned. Thematically, you can see where the action is headed: the styles or pillars of hip-hop. From nighttime sneaking around railway tracks for the „Whole Train,“ to rapping, graffiti, and breaking. The styles of the ground floor walls were incorporated into the motifs in the underground parking garage entrance. For me, this is the absolute highlight of this event! I’ve encountered a few spray-painted night scenes, including rain, at the Heimfeld Hall in Hamburg, but this tops everything I’ve ever seen! – Irxnschmoiz
