Falten der Realität – Folds of Reality
On September 29th and 30th in 2023 at MINIMALISTIX there was a new great exhibition called “Falten der Realität”, which means in English. The two neighboring Polish artists MARTYNA RUTKOWSKA and WIKTORIA PIÓRKOWSKA showed their fantastic works.
WIKTORIA PIÓRKOWSKA
WIKTORIA PIÓRKOWSKA is pursuing a master’s degree in psychology with a specialization in forensic psychology at the WSB University in Gdarisk. Currently, she also works as a barber, where, going beyond basic services, she also created the so-called hair tattoos by applying a drawing to the hair. She is self-taught, her artistic work is based on independent study and analysis of painting techniques using available materials such as books or albums, as well as attending exhibitions, and contact with the works presented there led her mainly to the abstract style.
She exhibited her first works at online auctions and she organized a vernissage combined with a recital of original songs by Mateusz Stryjski- a painter, graphic artist and academic lecturer. She also acted as an exhibition promoter at the Velor Festival, where she was also involved in individual sales of her works.In her free time, she participated in jam sessions as a vocalist, creating her own musical compositions using the guitar.
Currently, she is also in the process of creating her own clothing brand. In her art, WIKTORIA combines the emotions of given events into compositions of abstract images. He uses various materials for this. In a moment of inspiration, he pours his thoughts onto the canvas. She is inspired by the world and experiences around him. Each of her paintings hides a story. Her work complements her extraordinary life.
MARTYNA RUTKOWSKA
MARTYNA RUTKOWSKA is an artist by profession specializing in “traditional painting and gilding techniques”. Currently studying a uniform master’s degree in “sculpture” in Gdarisk. The last years of her life she lived and worked in Brodnica, Toruń and the Tricity in Poland. Although the exhibition presents the artist’s paintings, on a daily basis she goes into three dimensions and deals with sculpture. she has mastered the techniques of sculpture in wood, stone, clay, plaster and recently took part in the international outdoor casting workshop mastering the technique of creating cast iron sculptures.
MARTYNA also deals with street and reportage photography and one of her major achievements was winning the first prize in the international photo competition “Works of Masters Inspired by Contemporary Photography”. In addition, she creates graphics, short videos, hand poke tattoos, and also made a graphic setting for the cover of a music album. She worked on painting warhammer figurines, and is currently working on painting murals.
MARTYNA does not limit herself to matter, form or media, she treats the act of creation as a personal experience. She enters relations with every created work. It is an integral part of her life, she claims that life will never cease to create. MARTYNA ‘s greatest inspiration is botany, the underwater world, loved ones and herself.
