Zehlendorf town hall is getting colorful! From December 5th in 2023 till March 31st in 2024, more than 115 street art exhibits by over 70 artists can be admired on two floors of the Zehlendorf town hall. The exhibition was called for and organized by the VERBUND GRAFFITI & STREETART SZ and the STREETLIFE 2.0 project from the Zephyr youth and social work facility. A wide variety of artists responded to this call. Many come from the working groups of the youth leisure facilities and are up-and-coming artists. But some artists who are already established in the scene also got down to work.
The result is a broad spectrum of works of remarkable quality. Some of the works from the years 2017 to 2023 can also be purchased. The exhibition was initiated by PHILIP NADOLL and JONAS QUENTIN, two employee of STREETLIFE 2.0 and street artists themselves. They were able to get Carolina Böhm involved, the District Councillor for Youth, Health and Integration, and she gave a speech at the opening of the exhibition on December 5th in 2023. Also involved in this joint project were the „AG Graffiti“ of the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district, and the youth centers and social work facilities „Jever neun“, „Outreach Steglitz-Zehlendorf“, „Schotte“ and „MoWo“ of the Nachbarschaftshaus Wannseebahn e.V..
The VERBUND GRAFFITI & STREETART SZ is an association of youth work associations, social workers and artists. The group sees itself as a lobby for graffiti and street art as a contemporary youth cultural offering. It is also committed to the preservation and creation of legal walls and wants to enable young people to spray legally on their own responsibility. The association is financially supported by the Steglitz-Zehlendorf Youth Welfare Office. The great exhibition will remain at Zehlendorf Town Hall until March 31st in 2024, after which it will move on to Boulevard Berlin for another exhibtion time. The presented sortment of artworks can grow and it is still possible to contact them for participation. More young street art talents and their works are very welcome!
