Tübingen is a university town in the center of the state of Baden-Württemberg on the Neckar River with around 93.000 inhabitants. In 2020, the Stadtwerke Tübingen, or SWT for short, launched a long-term urban art project in which artists embellished their maintenance buildings and supply facilities, from small to large, with works of art. New works were constantly being added by local, national and international artists, and an extensive documentation of this growing urban art gallery can be found on the SWT website. The city is also home of the self organized youth center EPPLEHAUS which is non only an important free thinking space, but also an urban artwork itself. A place for culture and protest! The Epple Haus in Tübingen is a self-managed youth and cultural center with a long history. Since the 1970s, it has provided a space for left-wing politics, alternative culture, concerts, and social projects. It stands for self-determination, anti-fascist activism, and creative freedom. Despite repeated conflicts with the city, the Epple Haus remains an important and valuable meeting place for committed people who campaign against racism, capitalism, and social injustice. More than just a building, it is a colorful symbol of resistance and living subculture in the heart of the beautiful city of Tübingen. – Epplehaus
