Electric Ice Cream – November 2019
The NORDSTADT WANDGALERIE is a project of the KULTURFABRIK LÖSEKE. From 2017 till 2020, facades, walls, and smaller surfaces in Hildesheim’s Nordstadt district have been artistically designed under annually changing themes. The project sees itself as an incentive and a platform for exchange, as residents of the Nordstadt district and professional artists collaborate on the creative process of art in public spaces. Hildesheim’s Nordstadt thus becomes a place of communal encounter and a place where communication, active participation, and identification with one’s own living environment are possible. After the NORDSTADT WANDGALERIE launched in 2017 with the “Beautiful People” project, the second project, “Fabelhaft – Fabulous,” enriched the gallery with additional works of art in 2018. In 2019, the focus was on „Innensichten“, or in English “Inner Views”, like this shown artwork. “What objects are part of your daily life at home? What shapes or patterns?” – These and other questions were asked by over 100 residents of Nordstadt in 2019 as part of the “Innensichten” project. The result was 35 decorated electrical boxes, transformer stations, walls, and garage doors. The artists drew inspiration from the submitted images.
