Urban Art Biennale 2024 – „Regenera“
The French artist BENJAMIN DUQUENNE was born in Roubaix in 1979. He currently lives and works across borders in northern France and Belgium. The fantastic work of art „Regenera“ that he created for the Biennale in 2024 is a construction made of countless branches and twigs that he brought from the German-French border area, from Belgium, the Warndt and the area around the Völklinger Hütte. An important topic that the artist explores in his cross-border work is the topic of biodiversity. Using parts of nature, he created a „cross-border“ construct in the midst of these parts of industry, which is both a visually similar structure to the buildings and machines of the ironworks, but created from parts of plants and elements of nature. If you look at the scenery, it is also reminiscent of several fantasy, manga and anime stories with plant-technological metamorphoses in a post-apocalyptic scenario.
