This long collaboration artwork was created by urban artists together with a lot of pupils from the local schools around. It is created on the north and south entrance of the underpass and on the tunnel walls. You can find it at the GPS coordinates 52°23’22.9″N, 9°43’40.9″E. One side of the wall is decorated in jungle green with animals and plants. The other side is painted as an under water scenery with fish and ocean animals.
Some more info about this project from an article of 2017 by Stadtkind Hannover: These colorful works of art were created as part of the federal program “Jugendgerechte Kommune”, in which Hannover has been participating since October 2015 and, together with young people, has developed concepts under the motto “Youth lives the city – youth-friendly Hannover”. This ties in well with the urban development program “My Hannover 2030”, which includes street art and artistic activities in urban spaces.
With the support of photographer ISABEL WINARSCH and artist FRANZ BETZ, more than a dozen young people developed a street art concept and implemented it under the guidance of graffiti artists JONAS WÖMPNER and PHILIPP VON ZITZEWITZ in the so-called “Trog” under the railroad bridge in Kopernikus Street. In 2017, they used brushes, paint rollers and spray cans to redesign around 340 square meters of wall space.
The result is a world of images in vibrant colors on the themes of “Earth” and “Water”. The detailed artwork is a combination of painting and graffiti. Those who had to pass through the previously rather dark underpass can now admire colorful, creative art on the walls instead of gloomy gray. – Source and article from 2017: Stadtkind Hannover
