Beelitz is a small town in the state of Brandenburg with around 13.000 inhabitants and is part of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district. The town has a long history dating back to the Middle Ages and was first mentioned in documents in the 13th century. One of the most famous landmarks in the area is the former Beelitz-Heilstätten hospital complex, a large sanatorium built in the late 19th century. It was originally used to treat tuberculosis patients and later served as a military hospital in both World Wars. Today, parts of the site are preserved and partially restored, attracting visitors interested in history and architecture. Beelitz is also known for its surrounding natural landscapes, forests, and the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park nearby. Of course there are also great graffiti and urban artworks around town.
