The coal mine Zeche Fürst Hardenberg is located at Lindnerstraße 23c with its so-called “Malakow Tower,” a brick winding tower, which is a special kind of head frame. Very few examples of this type of construction remain in the Ruhr region or anywhere else in the world. In front of it is the machine hall, which was built in 1876. At that time, there were no steel structures in the mine; the oldest one, dating from 1878, is located in Clausthal-Zellerfeld with the Ottiliaeschacht. The hoisting side was carried out through the two slit-shaped wall openings at the top of the tower. After the Stein-Hardenberg mine was closed in 1987, the monument authority listed the Malakow tower as a historic monument. – Irxnschmoiz
