GERMANY: Urban Art Wiesbaden – Kastel – Hochkreisel Pedestrian Underpass – Meeting of Styles Spot

As its name suggests, the Hochkreisel is built at a height so that cars can cross over the railway tracks, and it even has a multi-lane roundabout. But there is also a passageway on the lower level, which is only for pedestrians. From the banks of the Rhine, after the larger and wider bridge passageway, the path leads to the northeast, narrows considerably, and finally goes underground in front of the railroad tracks into a narrower tunnel passageway that leads to Rathausstraße on the other side. Every year, this spot is an important part of the fantastic MEETING OF STYLES. Yes, the light isn’t so good, the walls are small and narrow, and overall it’s not as great as the bigger main spots. But on the other hand, that’s exactly why it’s interesting, because here completely different works get created. Like small, delicate and playful pieces or collaborations that the artists do on the side, a high class mash up in filigree, which takes on a certain special quality though the confined tunnel atmosphere, but also because it makes the whole concept beautifully dirty and underground. Like run over by crazy rats, but funny ones. Here are the collected works from this spot over the years, mainly from the MEETING OF STYLES events.

The Rats – Collaboration Mash Up – BIKO, COMPOST, DELEON, ESOBE, SOBE & WEAK

The artists involved in the two entrance walls to the basement on the west side have already painted several other larger works on the main walls. Here, they played around and just put stuff together, creating a fantastic smorgasbord, eaten away and overrun by rats. The walls on the underpass entrance to the left and right were created in a wonderful chaotic rat theme by BIKO, COMPOST, ESOBE, SOBE and WEAK.
