The fantastic MEMUR FESTIVAL took place in Oldenburg on the railway embankment wall along the Bundesbahnweg from August 12th to 14th in 2022. The title is a combination of memorial and mural. More than 30 regional and international artists designed a 280-meter-long wall with magnificent works depicting experiences and impressions of recent years, such as the pandemic, war, conflicts, and other areas of social and political tension. The common denominator of the artworks was thus the experience and reflection of collective memory. On the opposite side, the wall facing the former roundhouse was simultaneously designated the “Wall of Fame”, featuring additional graffiti by sprayers. The art and culture festival was organized by the association INSTITUT FÜR VERKNÜPFUNG with support from the STADTMUSEUM and the PRÄVENTIONSRAT. The event was accompanied by a magnificent photo exhibition „Evolution of a Revolution“ featuring works by legends MARTHA COOPER and NIKA KRAMER. In addition, various workshops were held and the films “Girl Power” and “Martha: A Picture Story” were shown. As well check out the individual pages for the artworks especially at the Pferdemarkt Hall of Fame and for the other artworks throughout the city.
