GERMANY: Architecture Dortmund – Hohensyburg – Kaiser Wilhelm Monument – ADOLF & KARL DONNDORF

The Kaiser Monument on Syberg was created in the 19th century as a monumental group of three towers by the sculptors ADOLF and KARL DONNDORF. During the Nazi era, two statues were removed in 1935 and relocated. On the horse you can see Kaiser Wilhelm and the statue on the right is first Chancellor Otto von Bismarck. In addition to the monument, you can also visit the ruins of the old medieval castle, which was then designed as a group of three towers with rich neo-Gothic architectural decoration, based on a design by the architect HUBERT STIER.
