Since 2016, JUNKYARD, an alternative cultural center, has existed on the site of a former scrapyard in northern Dortmund. The event hall and open-air area host a diverse program, peppered with concerts, club events, readings, comedy and cabaret, as well as exhibitions. In addition to the stage program, the creative culture place offers a wealth of streetart in the form of graffiti and its own upcycling projects. Toilet containers, backstage rooms, bars, and even the outdoor stage are built from discarded shipping containers, exuding a sense of scrapyard and Ruhr area flair. You can find artworks on the north facade which is the front wall and as well on the east facade along the park to Bornstraße. Both walls were decoreated by several artists during the 30 YEARS TOO STRONG JAM.
