The over 800 meters long, almost continuous wall separates the former racecourse, which is now a golf course, from a road running parallel to the railway tracks to or from Unna. This road is primarily used by joggers and as a fast-connecting cycle path, and of course by a few graffiti artists – kings and toys side by side. But I doubt whether this location qualifies as a „Hall of Fame“. If it were, it would truly be the longest in North Rhine-Westphalia. But the wall is unfortunately only 1.75 meters high at most, quite crumbling, and only in the western section are good pieces. It is interrupted by gaps, sections of construction fence, and areas only 1 meters high, several times heavily damp. The paint layers often peel off. In short: not so great. Also the impact of the work is limited by unfavorable geometries, as well there are areas that are overgrown. But that doesn’t seem to bother the writers and especially the top dogs like PEACE, ROLONE, LOTUS, NERO or OKAY.
Taking photographs there is quite strenuous and to get distortion-free photos, you have to bend or kneel repeatedly for each piece. At 800 meters, that means 90 to 130 times down-up-down steps. Just consider it when you go there. You can reach the hall by taking the S-Bahn to the „Knappschaftskrankenhaus“ station. The train runs every 30 minutes. If you want to study the works in time, consider at least around 45 minutes. So altogehter you should plan on an hour or more for a visit. – Irxnschmoiz
