LOUISE – House for children, young people and families
At the youth center LOUISE the Malwina e.V. offers a place for children, young people and families in Dresden. Several facilities, groups and projects are combined under one roof in the Neustadt district. This house is a learning room and educational center for children and young people as well a service and communication place for families. There are times and spaces for young and old to pursue their needs and interests within a certain framework.
The self-activity and self-design potential of the guests is stimulated and promoted here. You will receive support in terms of: “As much self-efficacy as possible, as much support as necessary.” The house can be reached barrier-free via the intercom system at the entrance gate of the daycare center. Basic assumptions: Every child is excellent (unique) and, with their strengths and skills, is the focus of the educational work. Parents are the experts of their children. They are included in the educational processes of their children and work together with the educational staff.
In the open children’s and youth club, young people between the ages of 6 and 27 can spend their free time in their own way. Rooms, games, sports and creative materials are available for this purpose. The social pedagogues are available to everyone as contact persons and supporters. Malwina is the fairy godmother from the children’s book “The Golden Key or the Adventures of Burratino” by Alexei Tolstoy. The founding members combined the naming with the desire to give help to those who needed it most urgently in the socially deprived area of Äußere Neustadt, like a fairy godmother.
Since 1990, the association Malwina e.V. has been one of the first independent sponsors in Dresden to do social space-oriented work for children, young people, families and socially disadvantaged people, mainly in the Dresden-Neustadt district. Malwina e.V. is a recognized independent youth welfare agency and a member of the Parity Welfare Association.
Based on the changing needs and the changing living conditions of the residents of the district, the range of services offered by our association has also changed. In the beginning, the focus was primarily on securing existential needs, e.g. with offers such as a launderette, bicycle repair shop, tool rental, help with crafts and a folk kitchen. In addition, we offered experiential educational work in the sport of climbing in the form of working groups in Dresden schools and in our rooms and built indoor climbing walls. – Malwina e.V.
