The artist “Spray Paint Art JB” creates fantastic worlds and fascinating utopias in his works. He works exclusively with spray cans, but has developed a variety of techniques. For example, he integrates foam into his works and sprays it. The motifs of his works often show space scenarios, mystical beings or the magic of nature. Actually they are selling all the equipment in their creative shop, as well they are familiar with the streets because they frequently paint themselves wonderful pieces and huge murals around the city and make their surrounding more colorful. Huge balloon dinosaurs, wolf skulls or a little Trump figure with a spray can – these are some of the amazing sculptural artworks of Domas Mykolas from Vilnius. We met the creative artist while finishing one of his newest masterpieces at the remodeling spray event at Keulė Rūkė. His freshly made artwork was part of the “make empathy great again” mural at the front. The whole group artwork is just brilliant, Domas contributed with the nice Trump statue.

We visited this fantastic artful place even twice and each time there was something completely new about it. First there is the long streetart mural of course which you can see while just passing by. It was made during the Mextonia Festival organized by the Mexican private platform Nueve Arte Urbano and the Estonian private company Todoes uno Eesti in 2017. Artists collaborated and left some awesome graffitis and color on the town walls. We did as well an interview with the Andres Mesner, the ownder of the inside existing art gallery called “Kalaranna Kultuurikuur” or in short form just „KaKu“.

Being able to exhibit as an artist in a gallery or even in a museum is a long and difficult journey. Due to socio-culturally shaped exclusivities such doors are opened to a few. Through relationships, the academic career, the finances, by luck or really the absolutely outstanding talent and a lot of hard work it already works, but there are not so many galleries and exhibition venues. This is also due to the high maintenance costs, the low subsidies and the conditional demand for art objects in general.

We already stood several days in Matsuyama, we visited and explored all the fantastic sights and the interesting city. Actually we wanted to leave to Ōzu in the south the next day. But our friend Mathew Iannarone from the Sen Guesthouse recommended us definitely to stay another night because he has some secret special insider event. This hostel is a place we can very recommend by the way, but there will be an article about guesthouse owner Mathew and his exciting life in Japan in another article which is in preparation. But back to our special event, which really was worth it to stay. Mathew took us to a livingroom-live-painting session with the graffiti artists BAKI BAKI and MON. The name of the event is DougoyART. It´s an relaxed artistique festivity in an homelike atmosphere which was in the befriended guesthouse of Hisatsugu Shimizu. As well there is audio included and musicians are taking part, this time the band The Sun.

During our journey in Chile we made a stop in Valparaiso and could stay in the most interessting Hostel of the city: Hostel Voyage. It´s much nicer to stay at a friends´ place than in a hotel room. A lot of people prefer therefore couchsurfing, it´s a cheaper and as well much more personal way to travel. And at the doors of Hostel Voyage we were welcomed exactly that way. After riding the whole night in a horrible bus through half of the country and searching for over two hours for a place to stay – out of 20 hostels really nobody opened – we finally have been greeted at this nice lodge.
