Introduction on the Mikado webpage: Welcome to the Mikado! If you are between 12 and 21 years old and like to spend your free time in an exciting, sporty or creative way, you have come to the right place! We offer you plenty of space to try out new things and to do what you feel like doing. Use our wide range of sports, creative and music offers or, if necessary, our bicycle workshop.
Visit our themed events, cook your favorite dish or simply play a round of FIFA on our Playstation. We support you with an experienced team of social workers. Take a look around our website or just drop by and get your own impression of our wide range of offers. For chilling, playing or doing handicrafts, doing sports or gardening in the garden – with the Mikado you are guaranteed to be on the safe side!
Mikado Program
Fixed offers in the Mikado Message board with different daily specials. You can find our respective weekly offer on our message board on site. We offer you the following on request or regularly! Airbrush Working in the recording studio Excursions and vacation trips application training, gardening in the garden, piano lessons as part of the piano AG, movie nights, homework help, wood pyrography, wood workshop, creative design, cook and bake, PlayStation 3, screen printing / airbrush (textile design), Games Days (board, sports and outdoor games).
Background Information
The youth leisure facility Mikado is one of the largest in North Hohenschönhausen and has been a facility of “Kietz für Kidsbetreuung gGmbH” since 2008. Participation is a key focus of our work. You can participate, help shape and play a major role in our programs and projects. We offer you a wide range of opportunities for leisure activities and for gaining new experiences. We also support you with school matters, conflicts and everyday problems of any kind. Here are a few key points that you will find in our work: extracurricular youth education, general education, political education, health education, cultural education, natural history and technical education, games, sports, sociability, work, school and family-related youth work, domestic German and international Youth work, child and youth recreation and youth counseling. A continuous further development of the project and the current working concept takes place according to your needs, the specifications of the association of sponsors, the department of youth support of the youth welfare office and the criteria of the handbook of quality management in open child and youth work.
The Team
Our team consists of 3 pedagogical employees. This is an educational scientist with a creative streak and enthusiasm for handicrafts, a state-approved social worker and theater teacher with an affinity for the digital world, and a state-approved social worker/social pedagogue with a focus on sports and media design. We have further additional qualifications from a wide variety of areas and regularly take part in further training courses. In addition, we are in constant contact with other pedagogical specialists, networks and working groups. We are regularly supported by volunteers, freelancers and interns.
History of the youth leisure facility Mikado
The JFE “Mikado” was founded in 1989 as a social-cultural institution under the name “Mikado – Talenteladen”. In the meantime (1995 – 1997) the facility was located in a former day care center in Wartenberg, before moving into the newly built youth club in 1997. In the years 2000/2001, the institution was re-profiled for open youth work. In 2007, the facility had to be closed for several months for renovation due to construction errors. On January 1st, 2008, the JFE “Mikado” was handed over by the Hohenschönhausen/Lichtenberg district office, to which it had been subordinate until then, to an independent sponsor, at that time still “Kietz für Kids e.V.” (now “Kietz für Kids gGmbH”).
